Discipleship - The CORE Difference
Teaching people to walk with Jesus is called making disciples. A disciple of Jesus is a person who has chosen to receive His gift of life and follow Him. Learning to follow Jesus can be a daunting experience and most people have many questions and significant confusion. Therefore, we seek to help people find their way in Jesus through small, discipleship groups. Groups of 2-4 meet throughout Houston during the week. The group is led by someone who has been in the Lord for a while and is prepared to help others. You do not have to be a follower of Jesus to be in a group, but you do need to be sincere in your desire to understand.
The intent of the groups is to connect mature, veteran followers of Jesus with those who want to learn and develop relationships.
In addition to praying and sharing wisdom, the leader will train those in the group to walk with Jesus according to the Way of Rest. The Way of Rest was developed by our Pastor as a holistic recipe for walking with Jesus. Every leader has been trained in this Way and is qualified to train others. You can read more about the Way of Rest here.
Feel free to drop in on a group. Pastor Jim directs the men's discipleship groups and Brooke Stern and Kate Powell direct the women's groups. Contact any of them with questions or if you would like to connect to a group.
Brethren, follow my example and observe those who walk according to the same pattern you saw in us.
